Joining DSA South Africa
The DSA of South Africa is a corporate membership organisation and Direct Selling Companies are members of the DSA.
Senior company executives from DSA member companies attend DSA meetings and events, participate in various committees and can be nominated for election as a DSA Board Director at the AGM in July.
As a condition of acceptance and continuing membership, all DSA member companies pledge to adhere to an industry Code of Conduct (which is currently being aligned with the Consumer Protection Act and once completed will be registered with the Department of Trade and Industry) in addition to compliance with all legislation in South Africa.
Direct Sellers (independent contractors that are also referred to as distributors, consultants, managers, sales agents, independent business operators, amongst others), are not eligible for membership. However, direct sellers that represent DSA member companies enjoy protection of the DSA’s Code of Conduct and have to abide by the requirements of the Code.
The DSA is a self-regulating association of direct selling companies that promotes and protects the interests of its members, distributors and consumers. As the leading ambassadors of the Direct Selling industry, the DSA proactively champion the interests of member companies who passionately create an enabling environment in which lives are positively changed in our country.
DSA Membership
Probationary Membership
All new members of the DSA first undergo a 12-month probationary membership which affords time to the DSA to assess the company’s compliance to the Code of Conduct and for companies to put any changes in place that may be required to be fully compliant with the Code.
Full Membership
Once the probationary period has been satisfactorily completed, the company is proposed for full membership of the DSA.
